PACE School Instructional Specialist
The ideal Instructional Specialist is an energetic, collaborative and organized individual able to communicate, manage and support the 1:1 education program of P.A.C.E. The ideal applicant will be a professional and mature, focused individual who will be a positive role model for our students. In addition the Instructional Specialist is required to provide constant supervision of their assigned student(s) which may include academics, vocational skills and personal hygiene. The individual in this role is expected to fully support the Special Education Teacher, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational therapists to ensure the success of the student in reaching their defined goals.
The PACE k-12 school is a collaborative effort of professionals working to create a progressive, effective program for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. - The essential job responsibilities of an Instructional Specialist are as follows but not limited to that listed below:
- Fully Support Special Education Teacher(s), Speech Language Pathologist(s) and Occupational Therapist(s) and I.S. team members in the classroom environment
- Assist in IEP objectives of the Students
- Assist in implementing student behavior and support plans
- Maintain student files on assigned student(s)
- Monitor individual student(s) in the classroom, playground and in the community to maintain positive learning environment
- Collects data on a daily basis on student progress and behavior tracking
- Assist student(s) with toiletry needs
- Maintain and update therapy binders
- Assists in maintaining a clean work area at all times
- Promotes environment that is conducive for learning and cooperation
- Assist with activity set up for student(s) in their class
- Conducts basic clerical work
- Assist by providing Handle With Care behavior redirection techniques when necessary
- The qualifications for Instructional Specialist include:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED – BA preferred
- California Basic Educational Skill Test (CBEST) and Learning Skills Aptitude Test (LSAT) preferred
- No experience required but is preferred
- Must have a clean DOJ/FBI record prior to and during the time employed by PACE
- Must submit to basic physical and TB test
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong writing skills
- Compassion for and sensitivity to children with special needs

PACE Connections Instructional Specialist
PACE is searching for an Instructional Aide to work with students ages 2 -6 with Autism in our Sunny Days Preschool program located in San Jose. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating classroom activities, supporting children during the program day, set-up and clean-up, collecting data, and having fun! A High School Diploma is required , and 6 or more early childhood education units are a plus.

PACE Connections Developmental Therapist
Pacific Autism Center for Education's Connections early intervention program is currently in search of an individual with a passion for working with children on the autism spectrum and other related disabilities to join our team as a Developmental Therapist !
The Developmental Therapist plays a critical role on the IFSP/IPP/IEP* team providing direct treatment services to children that are aimed at remediating the developmental delays associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The areas specifically targeted include: communication, sensory integration, social relatedness, gross and fine motor skill development, play and self-help skills.
Essential Functions- The essential functions and duties of the Developmental Therapist include, but are not limited to:
Teaching
- Work with each child on the individualized goals and benchmarks that have been established
- Establish rapport and a relationship with the child through play activities
- Engage the child in developmental and learning activities by interacting at the child's level of understanding
- Help each child self-regulate, communicate and relate
- Recognize and support child's sensory needs
- Bring energy, excitement and enthusiasm to every interaction with each child
- Assist at Sunny Days Preschool when needed and available
Communication
- Regularly report progress to supervising case manager
- Provide ongoing feedback and updates about the child to other therapists, instructional specialists and case manager
- Under supervision from the case manager, communicates with parents in a timely manner to explain progress, problem solve, elicit support, provide advice, etc.
- Serve as a resource to parents and child's classroom teacher (if enrolled) to enhance child's skill development and learning
- Participate in monthly team meetings
Record Keeping and Report Writing
- Write and maintain qualitative daily session notes/summaries for therapy which form a measure of progress
- Meet regularly with other team members to complete the Developmental Matrix for each child
- Regularly record therapy sessions on video and utilizes video for evaluation and demonstration of child's progress. Archive and transcribe video capture regularly.
- Maintain and submit accurate mileage records for related travel to and from therapy sessions
- Maintain and update each child's individual binder (at home) at each therapy session
Training and Evaluation
- Participate in opportunities for training and growth
- Attend PACE training sessions on and off site
- Work with and learn from special education teachers and other Early Intervention staff.
- Utilize Parent Resource Center and video equipment for monthly evaluation sessions with Case Manager
Knowledge, Skills And Experience-The candidate must possess the following minimum requirements for consideration as a developmental therapist:
- Education -- High School Diploma and or GED required. BA/BS required in related field (preferably psychology, behavioral science, child development), Masters a plus
- Experience --Prior experience working with young children preferred but not required
- Communication Skills -- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High energy, enthusiasm and excitement. Self-starter and team player.
- Organizational Skills -- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Driver -- Must have a valid CA driver's license, reliable transportation and willingness to drive to therapy sessions throughout the South Bay area
- Technical -- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point preferred
- Background Check -- Must have a clear criminal background check and submit to a TB test if provided with a conditional offer of employment.
Physical Requirements-The Developmental Therapist must be able to comply and adhere to the following physical requirements.
- Pushing, Pulling and Lifting -- Due to the nature of the work the DT must be able to lift and or push at least 45lbs.
- Twisting and Turning -- Due to the high activity of the program this position requires the individual to be able to physically bend, squat, reach over shoulders, reach over head, reach outward, kneel, sit, walk on normal, slippery, or uneven surfaces and stand.
- Driving -- The DT must be able to physically drive from a variety of PACE and client locations.
- Office Work -- This position requires that the DT to be able to conduct a variety of office work which includes typing, staring at a monitor for long periods of time and sitting for long periods of time.
Personal Requirements
- Must enjoy working with and relating to young children and families effectively
- Must have the ability to physically manage children (up to 60 lbs)
- Must be able to lift, move, and maintain toys and equipment used during therapy sessions
- Must be able to participate in activities that could be physically demanding (children's games, sitting on the floor, etc.)

More About PACE's Early Intervention Programs
PACE is a private, nonprofit center serving children with autism. Early Intervention is the key to enabling children diagnosed with Autism to achieve their full potential. Our comprehensive Children's Services include FACES, an intensive behavioral early intervention program in Redwood City; and PACE Connections, a responsive program that includes home-based and center-based early intervention therapy, a preschool and play group, and parent training and support.
FACES Behavior Tutor
PACE is currently in search of a part time Behavior Tutor to join the FACES program team in Redwood City!
The Behavior Tutor provides individualized intensive behavior therapy based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to children 24 months and older, in the FACES center or the child's home, school, and/or community. The Behavior Tutor works under the direction of a Case Manager in a highly collaborative environment and is responsible for implementing individualized student behavior plans that typically focus on improving: receptive and expressive language skills, social behavior, adaptive behavior and academic skills. The Tutor is expected to display professional conduct by reliably maintaining clinic hours, using appropriate language and behavioral terminology, and completing all administrative duties in an accurate and timely manner. As a member of the FACES team, the Behavior Tutor will be expected to implement best practice standards as defined by:
- Implementing the least-restrictive program of treatment that enables the child to learn effectively
- Demonstrating the competent usage and modeling of basic procedures including: differential reinforcement, discrete trial instruction, effective prompting, behavior reduction procedures, reinforcement sampling and behavior specific praise
Personal Requirements

- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to attend meetings into the evenings when warranted.

Essential Functions and Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- 1:1 Program Implementation -- The Behavior Tutor is responsible for providing direct services and implementing the individualized student behavior programs developed by the Case Managers assigned to their case within a home, school and/or community setting. The incumbent will operate in a highly collaborative environment to ensure that proper services are being rendered to the children on their case load.
- Assessments, IEP's & IEE's -- The Behavior Tutor is responsible for understanding, reviewing and implementing the behavior plans and short term objectives as stated in the child's assessments, Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and/or Individualized Education Evaluation (IEE). The Tutor will collaborate with the Case Manager to ensure that the behavior plans and short term goals are appropriate for each child's needs.
- Metrics and Documentation -- The Behavior Tutor must be able to read written treatment directions and collect numeric data as well as, be able to document student progress through data notes. In addition, Tutors are expected to complete billing sheets in a timely manner.
- Communication -- The Behavior Tutor will provide clear and timely communication to all members of the team, answering all calls and e-mails within 24 hours of receipt.
- Training -- The Behavior Tutor will be expected to participate in on the job training sessions. The incumbent must meet the minimum training competencies and receive a positive evaluation by the supervising FACES Case Manager to work independently.
- Leadership -- The Behavior Tutor must adhere to the standards of professionalism, ethical practice and code of conduct for associate level behavior therapists (see practice guidelines for BCBA), regardless of whether or not the tutor holds the credential. In addition the incumbent is responsible for complying and enforcing PACE policies and work procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Education -- B.A. in related field is required, or evidence that a B.A. will be obtained within a year of joining PACE/FACES.
- Certifications -- BCaBA preferred but not required.
- Experience -- Experience working with children who have challenging behaviors and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Communication Skills -- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to be playful, creative, energetic and enthusiastic. Strong writing skills required to document treatment sessions.
- Organizational Skills -- Strong organizational skills with the ability to read and implement written treatment directions and collect numeric data
- Technical Skills -- Proficiency in understanding behavior (ABA) literature for program development and implementation. The completion of training competencies and a period of in-clinic supervision hours as established by the Clinical Director.
- Driver -- The employee must possess a valid California driver's license with a good driving record, proof of insurance and an automobile to travel to and from therapy sessions and to the clinic for additional training sessions and meetings.

PACE School Special Education Teacher
PACE is currently in search of a Special Education Teacher with Moderate to Severe teaching credential. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate that is able to work full time with severely autistic students form ages 6 to 22. PACE is a certified non-profit, non-public school that implements a multi-disciplinary team approach, combining therapeutic and educational strategies to optimize the student’s academic and developmental progress.
As a special education teacher at PACE you will be given the opportunity to work in a team oriented environment which is composed of a teacher, behaviorist, team leader, instructional aides, occupational therapists and speech language pathologist. - Requirements & Qualifications:

Residential Direct Care Staff
Pacific Autism Center for Education is currently in search of Direct Care Staff for our Residential program. The Direct Care Staff (DCS) is responsible for providing direct quality care to the consumers of the facility. The primary focus of the DCS is to ensure the safety and highest quality of life for the consumers while strictly adhering to the behavior plans, program schedules and other procedural guidelines required by SARC, CCL and PACE.
Essential Functions
The essential functions and duties of the Direct Care Staff are as follows:
- CCL/SARC Requirements – Knowledge of Title 22 and Title 17. If appointed as the Charge Staff for a specific shift, one must assume the obligations of the Facility Manager.
- Continuing Education – Completion of 12 continuing education (CE) units within a 12-month period through ongoing authorized trainings and workshops.
- DSP Courses – Complete the Direct Service Provider (DSP) training and testing for year one and two.
- Accountability – Ensure that all the procedures and protocols set forth by the Administrator are adhered to at the facility. As a charge staff, responsible for staff and consumer issues as they arise and report immediately to the Facility Manager.
- PACE Program Requirements – In addition to the requirements of Title 22 and Title 17, PACE also has implemented a separate set of quality guidelines as defined in its own program plan that was approved by the DDS.
- Compliance – Ensure and maintain compliance with guidelines as defined in the Program Design for the home.
- Consumer Services – Responsible in understanding and maintaining the immediate needs and services of all consumers.
- Health & Safety – Maintain a clean & safe environment. Monitor the health and safety of all consumers. Report any suspected consumer abuse. Handle all emergencies and immediately notify the approprite individuals (i.e., 911 or Facility Manager).
- Medications – Administer and witness all consumer medication disbursement.
- Skill Training – Provide supervision and training of consumers based on the implementation of his/her IPP/ISP/Behavioral goals/objectives.
- Social Normalization – Ensure consumer normalization through group outings, as well as individual needs within the community and family respite.
- Residential Operations – The Facility Manager is ultimately responsible for the immediate supervision of all the facility, facility employees and consumers.
- Staff Training – Support Facility Manager with the training of all new hires.
- Documentation – Maintain all requested documentation in consumers’ binders. Complete and submit to Facility Manager all Special Incident Reports as needed.
- Facility Maintenance – Report any safety issues and submit work orders to Facility Manager. Ensure facility is kept clean and meals are prepared daily.
To be considered for this position all applicants must posses the outlined Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience while working with the Developmentally disabled population.
- Must Have Clean Criminal Record.
- Must Have HS Diploma or GED, BA in Social Services or related field preferred.

- Computer Literate; Must be able to perform basic computer functions. -
- Must Possess First Aid / CPR Certification
